A sales tax measure proposed by the Town of Hinton failed by 7 votes. The
Town Treasurer just inspected the voters' roll and determined that at least
20 ballots were cast by people who do not live within municipal limits. We
want to contest the election results on this basis.

I thought I'd ask here before I delve into the research. Have any of you
handled such a protest?

I did on a city council election before I was city attorney.  You only have to prove you a number of ineligible voters greater than or equal to the margin of victory.  It was so many years ago I wouldn't have the pleadings in my computer but I will see what I can find.
