Well, brother Jim, I'd say you got her supped up pretty well to expect to
average 9 knots at cruise. Our hull speed is only 8.6 knots. Those foreign
business trips must give you lots of money to push a lot of fuel through
her. But seriously, you could be pushing those 120 Lehmans unnecessarily
hard to get nine knots on a GB 42. I can do it at 1900 to 2000 RPM on my
thirty one year old 120 Lehmans, but they and I don't like it. I generally
use 8 knots as a good estimate of what I'll average in otherwise
unencumbered waters, and I push the throttles up to 1750 RPM to do that.
