03/10/09 - Wallingford, Mackenzie Reservoir -- Graylag Goose eating
crackers from a local resident.

From Frank Mantlik:
03/10/09 - Westport, Compo Beach -- 12:30, there were 40 gulls (RBGU,
HERG) picking at plankton in a calm "slick" offshore from the beach.
This is the first I've seen this year of this annual spring behavior.
03/10/09 - Stratford, Long Beach -- 4:30pm, 400 gulls (60/40 RBGU to
HERG, plus 10 BONAPARTE'S) foraging on plankton in Sound along with
brant and a variety of ducks. GLAUCOUS GULL continues by parking lot.
03/10/09 - Stratford, Stratford Point -- 5pm, Large number (1000s) of
SCOTERS (white-winged and surf) continue offshore.

03/10/09 - South Windsor, Station 43 -- 14 Northern Pintail, 8
Northern Shoveler, 6 Blue-winged Teal.
03/10/09 - Madison, Hammonasset Beach S.P. -- 1 American Bittern in
the marsh east of the Nature Center parking.

Woodcock.

03/10/09 - North Guilford yard -- Woke at 2 a.m. to the sound of
AMERICAN WOODCOCK 'peenting.'

03/10/09 - Madison, Hammonasset Beach S.P. -- 11 SNOW GEESE, 8 light
and 3 dark, grazing in marsh east of Willards Island at 8:45am. (The
same group was also seen on 03/09/09 at 10am.)

03/10/09 - Madison, Hammonasset Beach S.P. -- at 3:40pm , 8 SNOW
GEESE, 6 light and 2 dark with white heads, feeding in the marsh east
of Willards Island.  Look in the marsh on the right side out near the
water channel, before the trail divides into three paths, scopes
desirable.

eastern trail on Willard's Is), 1 LAPLAND LONGSPUR (in with about 25
larks across from Swan Pond).

Snipe (had 4 in the scope at one time).

03/10/09 - Waterbury -- Both Peregrine Falcons were atop one of the
billboards north of I-84 in Waterbury this evening.  Amazing how much
larger the female is when they're next to each other.
Southbury, Bent of the River Audubon Sanctuary -- Fox Sparrow singing.
Meriden, West Main Street Stop and Shop --  Common Raven being mobbed
by crows.
