This report comes on behalf of Keith (Tiny) Lee. What an amazing couple of days at the Wetland (Polishing Ponds). When we close for the season, I will send a complete listing of everything that has been at the Wetland. The two day highlights are as follows: American Bittern (Owen and Theresa Weir) Two Stilt Sandpipers (Maureen Riggs) Wilson's Snipe (Paul Eagles) One female Redhead Duck (Doug McRae) One immature Yellow-headed Blackbird (Dennis Garrett) Tiny believes the Yellow-head blackbird was photographed by a women visiting the Wetland. If you did manage to get a photo of this amazing bird, can you please send it in an email to Tiny keith.lee@sympatico.ca or brsicoedog@hotmail.com. The Yellow-headed Blackbird was in with a huge flock of adult and immature "male" Red-winged Blackbirds. We estimate the number of Red-winged Blackbirds in excess of 500 individuals. The Marsh Wren have started to get quite vocal again, what a treat to hear them. Virginia Rails, Soras and Moorhen are still present. What can I say! Many, many thanks to Geoff Carpentier who came to the Wetland to offer his "wisdom" with regards to the information we have been accumulating for a possible permit system for the next birding season. Also, a thank you to Rod Lee who went and picked up Geoff and returned him safely to Presqu'ile Provincial Park. As per Geoff's suggestion Rod Lee has started listing all the flora at the Wetland. Another individual has been asked to list all Dragonflies, Butterflies and Frogs.
