Date/time: June 13 2006, 12:00 local (24:00z)
Position at noon: Not updated from yesterday's report
Noon to noon: 157 nm estimated
Avg. speed: Not updated
Miles to go: 134 miles to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
Course bearing: 028D
Sea state: 2 to 10'
Wx Wind N 0 to 31 kts, mostly clear, some fog.
Water temp: 9.0D C
Crew: Ben, Brad, Kevin & Kurt
Remarks:
Nearer shore was nice. Stopped to catch a fish and Kurt caught 2 cod on 1
lure first try. Then caught 1 more bigger so we decided fresh
fish would be a great breakfast for 4 hungry hillbillies.
Went right near shore for a closer peak and got quite close to a
big, dark brown Bear. We now have seen the notorious Russian Bear.
Good pictures of the volcanic mountains and hillsides.
Rollers off the reefs convinced us to adios.
Weather very changeable here. We saw wind at 0 twice in the last 24
followed by gusts to 30. Right now 3 kts from W, calm sea, beautiful.
Sea warmed from 3 to 9 in last 24 no doubt the unpredictable currents we
feel.
We are now at latitude of Calgary but not getting their weather.
Snow right down to the sea here but melting so must have had a big recent
snowstorm. Lots of waterfalls.
Kurt says he's hardly having any fun at all, ha, ha.
Cold in bed last night, I needed my lovely, warm wife.
I'll buy another blanket in P-K.
