Electrical Contact Cleaner

Is it ok to use 100% pure isopropyl alcohol to cleaner the multi pin
connectors for the digital radar.?

If yes, the work will be done outside so are there any tricks of the trade
that I need to know other than use lint free stuff to perform the actual
cleaning.

FYI the mast was down for a refit and the radar worked fine before the
refit’s start. So now that it is to go together I went to buy contact
cleaner which turned out to be not as easy as one would think.

Ergo, my question

Thanks

Lee:

Google Caig Laboratories. I have used their D100L to clean and protect
contacts. It was recommended by several pros. The little 7.4ml bottle
will last a long time. Amazon has it as well.

Lee,

Contact cleaner is about 10% isopropanol (and the rest naphtha, not
including propellant). I don't see any harm in using it, but it might
not clean as well as you'd like, especially if there is any gum or
grease in there. You might try WD-40 first (if that's available there),
and then use the alcohol to finish up and remove the WD-40 residue.

Hope that helps.
