2009 EnviroChallenger/EnviroKids Earth Day Art Contest
Bring Earth Day home by encouraging Tacoma students to create art that illustrates why the 5 R's - reduce, reuse, recycle, respect and responsible - are important to their community.

During March, the City of Tacoma's EnviroChallenger and EnviroKids programs are asking Tacoma students in kindergarten through 8th grade to create a poster of what Tacoma would look like if everyone used the 5 R's.

Posters will be judged in three categories (kindergarten - 2nd grade; 3rd - 5th grade; and 6th - 8th grade). Winners will be announced on Earth Day, April 22. The first-place winner in each category will receive passes for four to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium; each second-place winner will receive tickets for four to a Tacoma Rainiers baseball game; each third-place winner will receive a new book on an environmental topic; and all entrants will have a chance at having their artwork displayed on the EnviroKids Web site.

To download an entry form, visit www.cityoftacoma.org/envirokidshttp://www.cityoftacoma.org/envirokids, or for more information or to have an entry form mailed to you, e-mail envirokids@cityoftacoma.orgmailto:envirokids@cityoftacoma.org or call 573-2506. Please note that all entries should be postmarked by April 3.
