Celebrate National Farmers Market Week in Pierce County, Aug 4-10

This year marks the 14th Annual National Farmers Market Week, recognizing
the important role that farmers markets play in the agricultural and food
economy.  Since the U.S. Department of Agriculture began declaring National
Farmers Market Week in 2000, the number of farmers markets across the
country has more than doubled, from 2,863 markets in 2000 to approximately
8,000 in 2013. Pierce County has over 11 farmers markets, giving you an
opportunity to shop at market every day of the week except Mondays.  Farmers
markets provide a strong marketplace for farmers and communities to form
direct relationships in a family-friendly atmosphere.  And now in the
height of this growing season, there is an amazing diversity of local farm
fresh products available like sweet corn, tomatoes, peaches, berries,
greens, grass fed meats, eggs, cheeses, and more.  You can find your
closest farmers market by visiting
