starting/completing a new one!
So who's working towards completing an event this weekend? We have a slew
of virtual events in which you can partake and another French Creek Racing
OWS race next Tuesday, June 23! Following is a rundown of events
continuing or starting this weekend.
There is a very good chance our list is incomplete, so if you are
participating in any of these (or other) events and are not listed, please
post a comment and we'll update both our "Who's In?" calendar as well as
send good Gator vibes your way! Just a reminder that links to all events
can be found in our "Who's In?" calendar (updated version to be posted
under "Files" this weekend); all are FREE unless otherwise noted...
Ongoing:
• VIrtual Saucony Mile (June 15-22)... This event, which ends on Monday,
offered by club sponsor Chester County Running Store and Don Morrison,
offers the opportunity to complete and compete in CCRS' most popular event
of the year, which is also a traditional Gators signature club event!
Course details and more info, including how to obtain the Saucony bottle
opener (while supplies last) after completion, are listed on the event
registration site! So far we know that Jill Basile is participating! Who
else is in for the shortest running event on our calendar?
• Quaranteam Strong Virtual Challenge (through June 30): This event is
offered by club sponsor Scoogie Events and Scoogie Snyder and includes
completing any or all of the following run distances over the time frame of
the event... 5K, 10K, 10 mile, half marathon! Note that each requires a
separate registration. To date here's what we know...
◦ Cindy Kelecic, Don Mack, Doug Raab, Jennifer Raab, and Linda VanOcker are
planning to complete or have completed the entire event
◦ Jill Basile, Karen Dieciedue, and Als Mac Doyle have completed or are
completing the 5K and 10K
◦ Michelle Louise and Sheri Kuss have completed are will be completing the
5K, 10K, and 10 miler
◦ Deb Rocco completed the 5K
• Steelman Racing's Virtual Challenges (through August 31)... This set of
events, offered by club sponsor Steelman Racing and David Michener,
includes a "Race the State" challenge ($30/person; completion includes a
$20 Steelman online store credit) for adults that includes crossing the 350
miles of Pennsylvania in any self-powered way that you'd like over the
course of 1-3 months and there is also a "Loop the Lake" challenge
($25/person; completion includes t-shirt and medal) for children that
involves completing the 20 mile circumference of Lake Nockamixon. Several
Gators won comp entries as part of our recent interview with Dave including
Sean Lodge (participating in June-August event), Diane Lynch (participating
in June-July event), Michael Metry (participating in June-July event), and
Renee Schuck! Additionally Sheri Kuss, Don Mack (participating in June
event) and Shawn O'Malley (participating in June-July event) are registered
and Jr. Gator Kenzie Kuss will be participating in the "Loop the Lake"
challenge!
• Great Summer 2020 Virtual Challenge (through Labor Day, September 7):
This event, offered by club sponsor Scoogie Events, features a summer long
challenge to virtually run/jog/walk and/or bike across Pennsylvania (350
miles) or from Doylestown to the Jersey Shore (Cape May; 135 miles)! Fees
are $49 for the cross the state event and $39 for the down the shore event;
completion includes a medal, 1/4 zip Scoogie Events pullover, and a bib.
Sheri Kuss is in for the "run to the Jersey Shore" challenge!
• The Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee 1000K (through August 31): Ruth
Subach is continuing to work her way across the state!
This Weekend:
• IRONMAN VR12 (June 19-21): IRONMAN's virtual race series continues for a
10th weekend and this time it includes a 70.3 distance duathlon, which
includes run 1 (5km), bike (56 miles), and run 2 (half marathon). So far
known or expected participants include Shawn O'Malley and Doug Raab!
COMING SOON...
• FCR OWS Race #2 (Tuesday, June 23): This is the second race in a six race
series offered by club sponsor French Creek Racing and John Kenny! Each
event, which can be done as individual events or part of the series,
includes a half mile time trial start swim in close by Norristown... It's
the perfect way to get your swim stroke back! And this year the series
also offers the option to participate in a virtual triathlon, aquavelo
(swim/bike), aquathlon, 5K, and duathlon! For more information, go to...
