Ctrl+Scrollwheel does not seem to change the value visible in the

Sigh.  On Windows 10.

Nothing stands out in the Library-info.

Are you saying it changes when you dock/undock?

I'm pretty stumped.

Yes, one openscad instance with undocked preview/editor/console.

I tried it with them docked, it initially opens with the console in my prefered position, then moves it to a docked position.

With it back undocked again, it definitely briefly comes up with the desired font & size then immediately resets to the default small font.

This is one OpenSCAD instance with undocked preview/editor/console?

Any difference if you dock them?

Please post the Help/Library-info.

Good thought, so I tried that and no, the small font is neither impact nor arial black.

Interestingly, there is a very very brief flash of text as the console window opens, which appears to be the arial black and bigger font size, then it almost instantly re-writes to the small font. Makes me wonder if windows is playing silly buggers, though why it would do that with just one of the three openscad windows I use is beyond me.

Ken, I just put 2022.06.26.ci11957 on my W10 VM, it works normally for me.

Is the very small text in Arial Black, please try setting it to a visually distinctive font (eg IMPACT), to see if it also loses the font as well as the size.

And that font size problem pre-dates the update.

Was it always so, or was there an earlier version where it was normal?

Thanks Michael- in regedit, consoleFontFamily is Arial Black and consoleFontSize is 16 decimal, 10 hex.

I directly edited it to 22 (decimal), it didn't make any difference when I started Openscad, still the same very small text.

I have the editor window set to the same, Arial Black and 16, that behaves itself nicely.

I'm running version 2022.06.26.ci11957 on windows 10, all works fine except I can't make the console window keep the text size and style I set next time I restart the program.

In settings-advanced, I set it to Ariel black and 16, and the console window promptly changes to that setting. However, when I next start the program the console window reverts back to it's default setting which is far too small for my eyes to read.

When I go back in to settings-advanced, it still says Arial black and 16.

What am I missing to make the setting stick after a program restart?

No, it behaves the same whether docked or undocked.

I am going to try uninstalling openscad, do some system clean-up stuff,
go through the registry and remove all references to openscad, then
reinstall it to see if that changes it. Its looking like it may be
peculiar to my windows installation.

Thanks to you (and Jordan) for all your help, I will keep you posted.

No.

There are two very different ways to change the font size.

You can open Preferences and use whatever mechanisms to change the
drop-down value.  I have not tried using the scroll wheel there.

Without opening Preferences, you can point at the console pane, hold
down the Ctrl key, and turn the scroll wheel, and the font size changes.

It is with that latter technique that the change does not persist.

the ctrl/mouse wheel zoom was introduced in W10.  It is a windows
operation, so individual programs will not store that info, unless
specifically encoded in the software.
https://winaero.com/use-ctrl-mouse-wheel-zoom-windows-10-console/

It also works on many  other windows, other than console, sometimes, but
as it is a windows function, unless overwritten by the program, then it
will not be 'remembered' once the program is closed.

Thank you to all who helped with this problem, I have now, if not
actually solved it, at least produced a work-around to what may be a
windows problem, not an Openscad problem.

I have three monitors on the one machine- if the console window was on
the second or third monitor it would not fire up with the text size and
font that I set. If it was on monitor one, it worked with no problems
and would fire up each time with the font and size I set in
preferences-advanced.

If I drag the console window to one of the other monitors, the font
immediately reverts back to the tiny size and font. Interesting that the
editor window does not exhibit the same behavior, so it may yet be an
openscad problem.

A baby can be defined as an ego with a noise at one end and a smell at the other.
Our job as parents is to teach them to control all three.

Thanks Ken. What happens when you drag the console back to the main monitor?

The console window is a different Qt object to the editor & the customizer etc.
So it could be a Windows(prob. 10) Qt bug.

It would be helpful if anyone else has W10 & multiple monitors who can reproduce this with recent
snapshots/nightlies.
