Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsHere is what it is all about. I removed and installed 12 GC2 Golf Cart Batteries this past June on
Allez. That required disconnecting all cables. Hauling them out of the battery boxes on the lower
deck and hauling them up the eight stairs to the upper deck and over the side to the dock.
That's was 12 batteries out and 12 new one's back on the same route. That was Back Breaking Work!
Now the battery post configuration was changed by the manufacturer so we had to think outside the box
to cable up the batteries with the existing cables.
Batteries at Sams's $84.00 ea x 12 = $1,008. Plus My 25% Mark Up Add $252. = $1,263,00
No Cabling Included.
Plus I had to haul them out of Sams with a cart and load them in a car trunk. Then unload them from the
car trunk and the Marina and get them on the dock and onboard the boat. Travel time back and forth to
Sams 45 minutes. Round Trip 1.5 Hours
You think you can do that in an HOUR?? Not on your life.
It took Six hours to cable up the first set getting the existing cables to work on the different dimensions.
The second Set was 5 hours (We learned a little the first time) Total 11 Hours Labor
