It’s a Great Year to Get to Know Your Neighbors!
Start an Emergency Preparedness plan with the homes around you, come to a Vuecrest meeting and share your good ideas with the Directors, join the book club, or just give a wave, and share a smile with your neighbors. We’re all so fortunate to live in such a great community. Happy 2018!
NEW Bellevue PARKING ORDINANCE EFFECTIVE DEC. 26, 2017
Parking or re-parking on either side of a street within the same block for more than 24 consecutive hours is prohibited. Previously, vehicles could avoid ticketing by moving only a few inches. The new ordinance clarifies that vehicles must move to a different street block every 24 hours. Example: If you park on the street in front of your home and leave for an extended time, your vehicle must be moved to a different street block at least once every 24 hours.
IT IS ILLEGAL TO PARK:
Over 24 hours on the same City of Bellevue street without moving your vehicle to a different city block, and it could be impounded (BCC 11.23.020)
Within five feet from a driveway (RCW 46.61.570)
Less than 30 feet from a stop sign, or 20 feet from a crosswalk (RCW 46.61.570)
Partially or fully parked on a sidewalk (RCW 46.61.570)
Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant (RCW 46.61.570)
In a fire lane – citation $100 (BCC 23.11.503)
Over a white painted edge line or into the travel portion of a roadway or bike lane (BCC 11.23.025)
Facing the opposite direction of the flow of traffic (RCW 46.61.575)
More than 12 inches from the curb (RCW 46.61.575)
With an expired registration and if parked for more than 45 days the vehicle can be towed at the owner’s expense (RCW 46.55.113)
With a “For Sale” sign in the vehicle while on a public roadway (WAC 308-330-436)
When “No Parking Anytime” signs are present or when “Time-Limit” restrictions are exceeded.
Blocking access to a mailbox when it compromises the U. S. Postal Service’s ability to safely and efficiently deliver the mail. Avoid a citation by parking at least 10 feet from a mailbox from 8 am to 6 pm on delivery days (BCC 11.23.028).
Effective January 1, 2018, all citations are $42 unless otherwise noted.

Vuecrest Bookclub Monday, January 8th
Mara Pitkethly has been in touch with Lucy Kalanithi and she is eager to skype with us! You may recall, her husband, Paul, wrote the book “When Breath Becomes Air” while dying of stage IV metastatic cancer. Lucy penned the closure, and the book immediately became a best-seller. I had the good fortune to meet Lucy and she is planning to “skype-chat” with all of us on Mon, January 8th.
The January meeting will be at my home, 9821 Hilltop, starting at 7:30, and Lucy will be available to start her skype at 8PM, after she puts her daughter to bed. I hope many of you will be free to join us – this will be a great opportunity to have a little one-on-one time with a terrific gal!
The usual Book Club meeting dates are the first Monday of each month, please contact Melissa at mhambleton@comcast.net mailto:mhambleton@comcast.net with questions.
