Hello Gators,
As many of you are aware, the Spring Valley Y will be closed for the next 2
weeks as a safety precaution due to the Coronavirus. Our country is going
through something we most likely have not seen in our lifetime, so every
precaution is being taken to protect everyone from this virus.
That being said, there are still a lot of things you can do to continue
your healthy lifestyle. Several members of our Leadership Team and Coaching
Team had a conference call last night to discuss different ways the club
can support one another during these trying times.
We fully understand that everyone has different feelings on what is going
on right now with the pandemic. Whether you want to join in small groups
outside, workout on your own, or prefer to stay inside as much as possible,
we completely understand and respect your decision. Our goal is to support
our club members as best we can in ways that will accommodate them
personally.
I would first like to thank Don Mack who immediately made himself available
last night to share the trainers that were available at the Y before it
closed and also to the many individuals who have offered their trainers to
others to use the next few weeks. YOU ALL ROCK!
As the weather is changing, we are hoping to get a few outdoor cycling and
running workouts scheduled as well as virtual training to keep each other
engaged in our activities. We are figuring this out and will keep everyone
updated via our Facebook Page and email distributions. Please stay tuned
for Pop-Up Training Events.
One of the online resources that helps everyone engage in workouts and
accountability for our club is Strava. If you are not already a member on
our GATORS page, please friend us at SV Multisport Gators or by clicking
this link:

Another one of our online resources is Training Peaks. Our coaches are
going to add some additional workouts into Training Peaks that can be done
at home that may include Cycling, Running and Weight Training to keep you
active at home.
A third online option is Zwift. This is an online cycling app. We
previously recorded a few classes where we explained what Zwift was and
showed individuals how to set up their bikes for this program. We will be
reposting these videos that you can watch at home. Please feel free to ask
any questions that you might have to get your bike up and running.
Due to swimming pool restraints, Don Mack will be making some changes to
our Gators Fitness Challenge - so please stay tuned for updates.
As mentioned above, everyone is reacting differently to our current state
of emergency, so please take in consideration everyone feelings and
reactions to what is going on around us.
Our Leadership and Coaching Team is available if you have any questions
about training, workout plans… even how to get a skewer on your bike so
don’t hesitate to ask.
Our GOAL is to support one another until we can get back on track with our
regular routine.
Thank you… Wash Your Hands and Stay Healthy Gators,
Gina
