For those of you who did not see the call to artists until yesterday (or for those of you who just haven't turned in your application yet), the deadline for Metal-Urge has been extended 1 week till April 10. The very simple application form is attached here in PDF and Word format.

Metal-Urge Call to Artists
Application Deadline April 10, 2009 (postmark acceptable)

Background
The City of Tacoma recognizes the tremendous contribution of the metal arts to the Pacific Northwest.
Metal-Urge is Tacoma's city-wide celebration of the metal arts during which Tacoma galleries will exhibit
metal works at various times from June 6 - September 20, 2009. This event is intended to reveal the vast
range of talent and creativity present in metalworking to date.
Anchoring Metal-Urge is two upcoming stellar jewelry shows at the Tacoma Art Museum: Ornament as Art:
Avant-Garde Jewelry from the Helen Williams Drutt Collection and Loud Bones: the Jewelry of Nancy Worden. The
Tacoma Art Museum has the only permanent collection of work by Northwest jewelers in the region.

Eligibility
Metal artists from the states of Washington and Oregon are invited to submit work for consideration. Artists'
work may be of mixed-media as long as metal is an important component.

Dates
Metal Urge spans June 6 - September 20, 2009. Because Metal-Urge is an overview of events, experiences,
and exhibits happening throughout that timeframe, specific exhibit times may vary. There will be a free
community festival on July 31 in conjunction with the Tacoma Art Museum including the 3rd annual 'Iron
Artist' competition where teams of artists will create wearable art on the spot and compete for the
championship.
