Any cities currently use or have considered using a service that reads license plates and automatically sends notifications of suspected vehicles, as defined, to local law enforcement? The license plates would be read through cameras purchased by local law enforcement. I would be interested in visiting with anyone who has considered and decided to use, or has rejected use of, this type of system.

When my cities have a purchase that needs to be approved by the Council, they include the price in the agenda item. However, with the current state of supplies-prices are changing-so the Council may approve a price, but by the time that happens, the price has increased. Do you think the agenda item has to include the price or could it be worded to not exceed a certain amount?
Thank you,
Amanda

Oklahoma City includes prices on our City Council agendas. If it's a negotiated contract we've already had the contractor sign off on the price and contract before it goes to City Council so there's no changing it unless later by Council-approved amendment or change order. Sometimes we do estimated prices on our agenda rather than a firm price. You could always say that the estimated cost is "x" but your Council gives you authority to exceed the estimate by a certain percent due to extreme price fluctuations at this time. There are probably other options I'm not thinking of right now! Amy Douglas
