The Swan Creek Food Forest is in need of a tool shed to better equip all
their wonderful work parties. They received support from the Tacoma 'Make
a Splash' Grant to build a sustainable and regenerative structure to store
tools and learn/teach about ecological building and water management
practices, and you can be a part!
On Friday, November 14th, 6 different types of ecological building styles
will be presented as opportunities for the Food Forest. Then, everyone in
the audience will have the change to vote on which style will be built.
Come join the conversation and learn more!
November 14th, 4:30 pm
Lister Elementary School
2106 E. 44th St, Tacoma, WA
This event will have 5 minutes on each of these topics:
*An introduction to the Food Forest site, it's opportunities & constraints.
*What is Round-wood Timber Framing, will it work for this site?
*What is Hempcrete?
*What is an Earthship?
*What is an Earth Bag Dome?
*What is Cob?
*What is Light Straw-Clay?
There will be time for questions and answers and a voting mechanism so
people can vote for their favorite options before leaving. Save the date
for December 5th, when the finished designs will be revealed.
The food forest project is an acre of land that is like a garden that
learned its design from nature. There will be a lot of perennial plants,
self-seeding foods, and tree crops. Food Forests, like regular forests,
don't need outside irrigation, fertilizer, or pollination. It's all just
part of the design.
Sorry about another email! The previous email had an outdated flyer
attached; this is the correct version.
