Yesterday morning, while travelling to Montreal, I spotted a large flock of
Greater Snow Geese along Hwy 401 close to the Quebec border. Doing a good
count wasn't possible but a reasonable estimate (through binoculars by the
way - I wasn't driving), was at least 500 birds. On the return trip later
in the day, they had moved on.
While this would be a relatively common sight in the spring, large fall
groups are uncommon at best.
Directions: The birds were seen on the north side of Hwy 401 about 2 km
before the Quebec border about 150 yards in.
