I found this paper from Oregon State University on a roll perior test &
using it to estimate stability in small fishing vessels.  It's quite
informative & should answer all your questions & more.  It's important to
remember that roll period is not just about how comfortable your boat is
but
is also an indication of your vessels stability.

I decided to do the calculations contained in this OSU piece but was a bit
baffled by it. Said you need 3 numbers, length, beam and freeboard but the
formula required only roll period and beam. Am I missing something? I have
considerably more freeboard and top hamper on my sundeck boat than a
fisherman but according to the formula, it neither aids or affects me
negatively.

Any ideas?
