Counselors:
I would be interested in knowing how cities have treated Airbnbs within their jurisdictions. Do you include them as "hotels" for purposes of the hotel tax? Do you require they be licensed or inspected, or otherwise regulate them in any manner?
Thanks,

Jon,
Tulsa has ordinances addressing short term rentals in various parts of our Revised Code of Ordinances. Please go to our Municode ordinance compilation at https://library.municode.com/ok/tulsa/codes/code_of_ordinances and search "short term rentals."

Hi Jon,
In January 2019, the City of Oklahoma City adopted licensing and zoning ordinances regarding home sharing (attached). In short, all hosts are required to obtain a business license and hosts who are renting properties that are not the host's primary residence are required to obtain a special exception from the Board of Adjustment. There are additional requirements in historic preservation neighborhoods. The City also has an agreement with Airbnb providing that Airbnb will collect and remit hotel tax. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call!
