New Life of the Solartron 7081

Михаил (Mickle)
Thu, Jan 10, 2013 9:08 AM

Hi!
At last I completed the repairing and modifying the Solartron 7081 DMM:
http://bbs.38hot.net/read-htm-tid-36350.html
Zener reference was totally dismounted and replaced with DIY LTZ1000 board.
Moreover the floating logic PLL clock was made a switchable to crystal oscillator
with a lower phase noise.
After all, low-frequency noise is halved to 0.028 ppm (better than Keitley 2002,
Datron 1271 and Advantest 6581T), TempCo is less 0.2 ppm/C, long-term drift
approximation is 1-2 ppm/year.

Regards,
Mickle T./iddqd2001

I think the preceding article:

http://bbs.38hot.net/read-htm-tid-15406.html

Is even more interesting!

So, why did you post this on a chinese BBS Mickle?  (just curious)

That is quite the reverse engineering effort! Congratulations Mickle!

It is good to see such a quality effort paying off.

Yes, very impressive - Solartron should hire you as a consultant to
design or improve their current products.
