Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsThis is a picture of Fred Wehner of Tug 44. He is this year’s winner of the "Skipper Bob Award for Making it Better". Fred works tirelessly to assist boaters who are traveling the NY canal system. He sends out up-dates and weather reports that concern the locks and floods in the area and keeps us all informed about changes in locking times and other things that are important for boaters. He also has assisted by sending information to Skipper Bob and Ted Stehle for the Skipper Bob guide “Cruising the NY Canals”.
Thank you Fred for all you do and have done to help your fellow boater through out your boating years. A full explanation about the Award can be found at Skipper Bob.net where you can go across the top of the page and click on “Skipper Bob Award”. Fred’s award will be the 14th and last of the awards. I think it is fitting that he be the last one to receive the award as he was the last person to be in contact with Skipper Bob before his passing.
Sincerely,

I’m sorry, I forgot that I cannot post a photo. I’ll see if Fred can help me out there. And the web page is www.skipperbob.net. I made a mistake and separated skipper and bob.

I can help you out.
Here is a picture of Fred taken as a Looper pulled up to the dock at
Waterford NY. Sometimes Fred forgets to put on his eye patch when he gets
excited thinking about the possibility of confiscating a bottle of wine from
an incoming Looper boat.
