Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsHaving travelled both the Rideau and the Erie / Oswego several times, I am
fully prepared it admit given the right circumstances the Rideau is by far
the most beautiful, only to be spoilt by a certain portion of the
vacationing cruisers. The boaters who have more enjoyment in racing between
locks and then in my case having the wait while us large vessels are
entered first, is not my idea of enjoying the scenery and smelling the
roses.
Yes, I would definitely avoid any Quebec vacation period.

I agree and this is one of the reasons why you want to give yourself plenty of time to get through before the vacationing local boaters are trying to get their piece of the summer boating season. Everyone has their leisure time and as a full time cruiser you can make your schedule work around them as they have no choice as to when they can vacation. Keeping the peace is more important to me than getting annoyed by the working folks who are on vacation. Every day is vacation for live aboard cruisers.
What kind of noise annoys an oyster?
Say that fast 3 times. LOL
