Scott,
Based on my own experience living aboard and cruising for the past year
and cruising about six months a year for the previous fives years or so,
I'd say that how much TV one watches aboard is proportional to how much
one watches ashore--but then add some. As something of a news junkie,
I have access to a couple of newspapers every day at home, something
that's not a given when cruising. As a result, I seem to watch more news
while cruising than at home. You're right: having TV weather is also good;
in terms of being helpful for what's happening where you are, the local
weather is often better than the Weather Channel. Local news is also helpful.
A satellite TV receiver is a wonderful thing, giving you coverage no matter
where you are. We would not want to be without ours. I remember how
much we LOVED having it on 9/11.

. . . how much time do you find yourselves watching TV?
