Bring Your Basket to the Annual Vuecrest Easter Egg Hunt
Big anticipation always awaits the Saturday, April 9th Vuecrest neighborhood egg hunt which will be held on the Wittman lawn of 9805 Belfair Road. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. sharp with an egg hunt for the 5 and under age group. This will be followed by ages 6-10 and then 11 and up. They’ll be special prizes for those who find a Golden Egg!
Please remember that children are not required for you to enjoy the festivities. Just watching the children hunt for eggs will guarantee a smile. There will be coffee and pastries available for the adults. Make sure to put it on your calendar! We hope you’ll join us!
Would you like to lend a hand and/or be involved in the Egg Hunt? Volunteers will be needed several days before to help fill the plastic eggs, as well as assistance on event day to help with table and beverage set-up. Please contact neda.perrina@rsir.com mailto:neda.perrina@rsir.com. if you have some free time. Just an hour would make a big difference!
The Big Spring Trim-What to Trim NOW
Time to tame our vegetation, clear out overgrowth, and protect our valuable Vuecrest views. Everything from summer-flowering shrubs to evergreens can be tackled this month. Prune once lighter-colored new growth appears, which gives time for cuts to heal and new buds to form. Use thinning cuts back to the main stem to tame overgrown shrubs; for heading cuts, prune back to a branch that has needles or leaves on it so new growth can sprout.
Safety Alert
Just last month there were two cars stolen from our area. One within Vuecrest and one at the LUX Apartments at 1000 100th Ave NE. Please be proactive. It may be the right time to install a video monitoring system at your home. I personally have a system that alerts us to any movement and records any action on our property. May we also suggest cameras with night vision and motion lighting. City living will always have its good sides and bad.
New Director Appointed
Carlos DeTorres has been appointed by our President, Chris Bodiford, as a new Vuecrest director to fill a vacant chair. He resides in Vuecrest with his wife Carol and two boys who attend Bellevue High. We are very grateful that he has agreed to shoulder this responsibility and take on a leadership role within our community. Welcome, Carlos!
Community Right-of-Ways Closed During April
Our Landscape Chair, Mark Mecham, arranged for all three ROWs to be aeriated and reseeded on March 26th. In addition to overseeding, they used peat moss to help germination. They should be looking much better in a couple weeks. We would greatly appreciate the neighborhood not using these three ROWs for the next month. Our landscape company has marked each end of the ROWs.
Condolences
With heaviness of heart, I must report the passing of our neighbor, Judith White. She was one of our recent Directors and died on March 20, 2022 from lung cancer. Always spunky, alert, and engaging, we will miss her light. Please find more information below in the Neighbor to Neighbor Communication Section.
