Observers:        Chuck Sharbaugh, Hugh Kent, Ian Woodfield, Larry Ludwicki,
Liz Kent, Noel Herdman

Visitors:
Thank you to all of our wonderful observers today, Noel, Chuck, Ian and
Larry!

Weather:
It was fairly cold today with a high of around 5C, with some sunny periods
in mid-morning. The wind was north-west for around half the day and
switched to south-west for the second half.

Raptor Observations:
The majority of hawks seen today were high up flying over the tower. The
large majority again were red-tailed hawks followed by red-shouldered
hawks. There was one unexpected kettle of 11 turkey vultures. One adult
golden eagle also flew over with some red-tails and shoulders, as well as
two sharpies, a coopers hawk, peregrine falcon and bald eagle.

Non-raptor Observations:
This morning stared out very quiet, however bird started to wake up around
mid morning. A large raft of buffleheads were seen on the lake side along
with red-breasted, hooded, and common merganser. A huge number of waterfowl
were seen on the horizon along the lake. We weren't able to confidently
identify them at that distance, but they were likely to be scaup. Tundra
swans and sandhill cranes flew over a few times today, and we finally saw
our first fox sparrow!

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks similarly cold with the possibility of showers or snow. Wind
will likely be Northeast in the morning, switching to southern winds by the
end of the day.
