I've been power boating 16 years with a houseboat and ski boat on the
Sacramento Delta where we can boat year round. Have been planning on
retiring in 7 years about a trawler to do some coastal cruising on the
west coast then over to the east coast, before heading down to the
islands. I've spend some time sailing cats and loved the space,
stability and economics on fuel. Started reading about power cats 5
years ago on the internet looking at all the New Zealand boats. I have
only seen one power cat out west so far, although I understand Lagoon
now have a sailing center in San Diego, but for the last four years I
have made the trip back to Annapolis to see the boats at the boat show.

Love the layout in the new Endeavour 40 ft with the pilothouse, fly
bridge and walk around master cabin, just not sure it is seaworthy
enough to take across the Gulf of Mexico or down to the Virgin Islands.
Plan to buy within the next five years, move about for two before
heading out fulltime. I'm also following the Lagoon 42 electric drive
sailing cat with great interest. Lot's of options and time to plan.

Looking forward to learning and contributing to this group,

Mark D. Miller

Welcome aboard Power Catamaran List, Mark!

If you pick your weather, are adequately prepared, and are properly
equipped, and, again, if you pick your weather, all modern-day power
catamarans would be capable of the cruising you are planning. Some
may just be a bit more comfortable than others.

The discussions here will help you reach the decision that is right for you.
