When taking the dog out this morning at 5:40, well before sunrise, I came
across a mourning dove on the ground below the bird feeders. It was just
sitting there, not actively feeding. It flew off while I was shining the
flashlight on it and saying "what the?" Perhaps it was disturbed at its
roost and went to a familiar place that it typically goes in the morning?
Whatever the reason, an unexpected sight.
