Modern Margins is the 3rd annual art show curated by Handmade PNW to
explore gender + its effects on women and other historically marginalized
genders. The show will be installed at Alma Mater, but we're not sure yet
if there will be in-person viewing.  Updates on viewing will be posted
here:

The show will be visible through the windows at Alma Mater's Milk Gallery

starting
around April 4.

This project is financially supported by a Tacoma Arts grant.

What have your experiences been, of your gender in your workspaces?  (I
have so many stories to tell, and I think most people do, too!)  At this
unique workshop, we'll hear from speakers, talk about what we've heard and
spend time in small networking groups, to get to know and encourage each
other.  This workshop focuses on historically marginalized genders, but is
open to all.  Speakers include:

  • Moji Igun, Blue Daisi Consulting - How white supremacy culture makes
Black women feel unsafe/unheard/unseen at work
  • Candis Fox, Defiance Time Bank - Gender affirming spaces and why it's
important to name them as such
  • Jackie Peterson, Jackie Peterson Exhibit Services - "This is not
America": How our failure to acknowledge our national past impacts how we
    work

Advance registration required.  Tickets are $25 but FULL scholarships are
available - no questions asked - on the checkout page.  If you want to be
here, we want you here!  https://www.allisonbishins.com/events/2021/4/8

Attendees will have access to a video replay of the speakers, but not
discussions or networking - so that attendees can feel comfortable sharing
as deeply as they'd like.
