Sunday Racing - October 21st

To All -

With only one more race to go, todays racing was a challenge. The wind was
west/northwest at a steady 15 - 18 with gusts to 23 mph. Nasty gusts and
nasty shifts. The Race Committee chose course #19 (B-C-8; 3.5 miles) which
was really short given the conditions, but the only other course would have
been #20 with a downwind finish competing with upwind racing one-designs.
Not a good idea. (Over the winter I think we have to discuss giving the Race
Committee an option of setting a course to suit the existing conditions.
That might give us better racing than forcing the RC to choose from a
pre-selected list of courses. Think about it, and let us know your opinion.)

Six boats raced, and I think everyone was reefed and using small jibs. Zoran
raced alone, so kudos to him. He's a real winner in my book on a day like
today! I think Hee Soo would have wiped up the Fleet today, except she blew
out her old main sail on the final leg. Not a pretty sight flapping in the
wind.

Next Sunday is our last race of the season. STARTING TIME FOR THE CRUISING
FLEET IS 12:30 PM. Following the racing are the Closing Day Party and
Ceremonies. This event is free, the food is good, and the wine and beer
flow. This party is a wonderful way to wrap up the year. Hope to see you all
there.
