Following Ron Fleming's report of Snowy Owls in Holland Marsh, a quick trip today resulted in finding one immature bird on Tornado Drive south of Canal Road. I also received second-hand information of a second bird off Day Road but this one eluded me.
And from Dufferin just north of Pumphouse Rd I found what for me quite easily was the largest flock of Snow Buntings that I have ever come across. I conservatively estimated 500 birds but 1000 might not be out of the question. These birds were all in one massive grouping feeding in low weeds in the east of Dufferin.
Directions:
Tornado Drive is located running southerly off Canal Rd. and is the second road east of where Canal Rd passes under the 400 highway. Canal Road is the first turnoff to the east from the 400 highway north of Hwy 9.
