AUDITIONS: MISERY AUGUST 6th THROUGH August 8TH

Tacoma, WA-Tacoma Little Theatre is holding auditions for Stephen
King’s *MISERY,
*adapted for the stage by William Goldman. This production will be directed
by Chris Serface.

Auditions will be held Sunday, August 6th and Monday, August 7th at Tacoma
Little Theatre (210 N I Street, Tacoma WA 98403) and on August 8th at STAR
Center (3873 S 66th St, Tacoma, WA 98409).  Audition appointments will be
set starting at 6:00pm on Sunday and 7:00pm on Monday & Tuesday in
five-minute increments. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at
Tacoma Little Theatre.  All actors must schedule their appointment using
Casting Manager at the link below.

Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued
from a car crash by his “Number One Fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up
captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads the
manuscript to his newest novel and becomes enraged when she discovers the
author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces
Paul to write a new “Misery” novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no
intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as
if his life depends on it, and it does.

Tacoma Little Theatre encourages performers of all racial and ethnic
backgrounds, gender identities and expressions, and performers living with
disabilities to audition.

Auditioners are asked to prepare a 1-2 minute modern dramatic and be
prepared to read from the prepared side for your role available on Casting
Manager.

All roles are available:

PAUL SHELDON (male presenting, 35-60): Author of a series of best-selling
romance novels who becomes totally immobile and in great pain after a car
crash. He is utterly dependent on Annie. The hero of the story, Paul is
motivated by survival. He is intelligent and charming, but physically
incapacitated and somewhat helpless.

ANNIE WILKES (female presenting, 35-60): Former nurse, a seemingly
wholesome, kindhearted woman who is Paul's "Number One Fan". But soon it
becomes clear she is not as harmless or mentally stable as it would first
seem. She is constantly jumping between kind and caring to ruthlessly
vicious, and this role requires an energetic and obsessive performance.
Intense, mercurial, riveting, charming, and frightening.

BUSTER (male presenting, 30-60): Local sheriff investigating Paul’s
disappearance.

All actors receive a travel reimbursement up to $150.00.
