Chartwell arrived in Cape Town

Hello,
We have arrived in Cape Town & are moored at the V & A waterfront marina;
right in the center of things & close to downtown Cape Town. I spent 5
months here last time aboard Chartwell & already see that it will be hard to
pry me & the crew away from this place. I have several "upgrade" projects to
do here including installation of a new Isuzu 85 hp engine in the engine
room which I bought in Malaysia; it will be a dedicated  hydraulic power pak
which will be used to turn the main shaft in the very unlikely event of a
main engine failure. Plans are to leave here in March for Rio, another place
that will be hard to get away from !  This Cummins 855M2 main engine has run
flawlessly during the 9 years that I have owned the boat but it will be
comforting to have some sort of "alternate propulsion" system if it ever
developes a problem. The  engine people in Malaysia estimate that it should
push the Chartwell @5 knots in a moderate seaway running at 1800 RPM.
We will see. Best regards,
Larry Briggs
