Seven local black artists contribute to the powerful exhibition, Reaching
Down, Rising Up, which commemorates National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness at
the PCAF gallery during the month of February. The artwork recognizes and
celebrates beauty, deep empathy, and provocation, and showcases sculpture,
mixed media, and paintings. Themes cover awakening and healing, the thread
of human experience, and the nuances of representation and identity. Each
piece communicates humanity in a narrative that connects us all. Local
emerging and established artists include Adika Bell, Monvelia T. Blair,
Tiffanny Hammond, Aisha Harrison, Barry Johnson, Robin Annette Jordan, and
Chardanae Odegard. Show runs through February 28, 2019. Hours of the
gallery are M, T, Th, and F from 9 - 5 pm. Wednesday from 11 - 5 pm.
