In Pascoe book on surveying he seem to think the following numbers are
pretty
close to the real cost

1-5 Year old boat 8%
5-10                      12%
10-15                      15%
16-25                      18%

So what else is new? Has anyone noticed that Pascoe's estimated costs almost
exactly follow the rate of inflation for the last 30 years? They say nothing
about increased maintenance requirements of older boats, simply that
replacement parts and labor are more expensive now than they were when the
boat was new.
The increased cost factor would apply to cars, houses, medical care, bottles
of single malt scotch - you name it. Almost anything you buy now (except
computers) costs 2.5 to 3 times as much as it did 30 years ago.

The annual cost of my 32 year old boat is what I can afford to spend on the
foolish pleasure that boating affords. If it cost more than that I would
receive a strongly worded message from my wife or from my banker.
