*Exhibition Goals: *
The gathering aims to generate a discussion on the significance of the
blanket as symbol in contemporary Northwest Native culture. The exhibition
will be shaped by traditional Native aesthetics and by the individual
Native identity of each artist. Each participating artist will create a
blanket to exhibit at the Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland on May 4th, 2019.
Participating artists will engage in a community building process with each
other through bi-monthly communication and one team meeting. Three artists
will be selected to be a part of this exhibition. The fourth exhibiting
artist is the show Director, a member of the Colville Tribe with Nez Perce
ancestry.
