Accidental spills of dangerous materials and past business practices have contaminated land and water throughout the state. The Toxics Cleanup Programhttp://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/tcp/cleanup.html (TCP) works to remedy these situations, which range from cleaning up contamination from leaking underground storage tanks, to large, complex projects requiring engineering solutions. Our mission is to get and keep contaminants out of the environment.
The Tacoma Smelter Plume (TSP) Unit in the Southwest Region in Lacey, WAhttp://www.ci.lacey.wa.us/ is looking for a TSP Areawide Remediation Environmental Information System (AREIS) Database Manager (Information Technology Specialist 1). This is a project position currently funded until June 30, 2021.
The TSP Program is focused on sampling and remediation of childcare facilities, schools, parks, camps, and residential properties. The TSP yard cleanup and soil safety programs are high priority projects covering two regions - Northwest and Southwest Regional Offices. It is estimated that nearly 16,000 properties will need to be addressed by these programs.
As the Areawide Database Manager for the TSP project, this position serves as the technical expert responsible for maintaining information on several database systems and for the development of business intelligence products. The successful candidate will be responsible for all TSP data as well as the design, development, and implementation of business intelligence products in support of these systems. The Database Manager will also provide input to the TCP IT Team during the development of new information systems or complex business intelligence products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
Two years of information technology experience to include analyzing, designing, and programming computer software application, or developing canned or ad-hoc reports using Structured Query Language (SQL)
OR
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Desirable Qualifications
A Bachelor's with focus in Computer Science
Experience with software development, SQL report development, and GIS
Knowledge of current software development methodologies and test techniques
Experience in Design Teams and development of end-user requirements specifications to include use case or user story documentation for routine tasks
Understanding of mathematical functions and formulas
Experience creating elementary data flow diagrams, process models, prototypes, and user instructions
