Weather:
Temps ranged from 8C-10C. Winds were modest from the NE, around 15km/h.
Cloud cover shifted from 100% to 50% by the end of the count period.
Raptor Observations:
The tally this afternoon trickled in slowly at first, but with a swift
uptick when some clouds cleared out and the sun appeared: 374 birds in 3.5
hours, including a subadult looking Golden Eagle at 3:16 pm (EST).
Non-raptor Observations:
Non-raptors included: American Crow, Blue Jay, American Goldfinch,
Red-bellied Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Carolina Wren,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Purple Finch, Hermit Thrush, Golden-crowned Kinglet,
Northern Cardinal, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and American Pipit, Cedar
Waxwing, Evening Grosbeak, Great Blue Heron, Common Loon, and Wild Turkey.
