The City of Tacoma is in the process of updating their Public Works Design Manual as part of a process of reviewing Tacoma's development codes and guidance documents to encourage Low Impact Development (LID). The major documents to be revised include the Public Works Design Manual, Tacoma Municipal Code and standard drawings. We would like public input to help guide the updates.
Please join us at a public workshop this coming Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

An overview of proposed changes to the Public Works Design Manual, Tacoma Municipal Code and standard drawings will be presented at the public meeting. The Public Works Design Manual (PWDM) was last updated in 2004. The City will be updating the PWDM to incorporate LID where appropriate but will also review and update all areas of the PWDM as needed. Topics of discussion for the PWDM include: Street Design, Wastewater and Stormwater Design, Streetlighting, Traffic Signalization, Channelization, Pavement Markings, and Planning and Design elements.
The City encourages all interested parties to attend this public meeting. Suggested groups include: citizens and citizen groups, engineers, planners, builders and related professionals that live or work within the City of Tacoma. For additional information, please contact Merita Trohimovich at 253-502-2103 or swmupdates@cityoftacoma.orgmailto:swmupdates@cityoftacoma.org
Please note: The Murray Morgan Bridge will be closed (raised) from 9 AM to as late as 6 PM on February 3rd. The bridge closure will restrict direct access to CUW from downtown Tacoma via 11th Street. There are many easy alternative routes. Remediation work is being performed (from the prior rehabilitation project), which requires the bridge to be raised. We apologize for any inconvenience that the bridge closure may cause and encourage everyone to make their way to the Public Meeting at CUW using a route alternate to the Murray Morgan Bridge.
