Hi

So glad this list is active again.  We are looking for a catamaran between
35-45 feet, fiberglass (not with wood underneath) and would love it to have
3-4 berths in the hulls with galley up.  We are open to power or sail but
are leaning towards power.  Diesel engines with at least 2 heads would be
great.  No project boats and one with good records would be great.  We live
in Seattle, but are willing to ship.

Best,

Renee

A trip to Phuket may be in order.  I have met a couple of naval architects and builders who are building both power and sail cats there.  Designs are either French, or Australian, composite boats, with low labor costs, and good workmanship with the proper oversight of the builder.
Cocnut Bite Marina and Boat lagoon are a couple of locations on Phuket proper where large cats are being built and restored.

Renee,  sounds like you might be looking for something used.  Your email reminds me a comment made by Dave Abbot (http://www.maxingout.com/ ) who sailed their '93 Privilege 39 around the world for many years. He talks about his sailboat being a great power boat with 1400 mi range under power on standard tanks (running one engine at a time).  If you pull the rig and sails, I'm sure you could add extra tankage with the weight savings and get even more range.  the P39 is a fairly heavy boat, a more modern lighter weight boat might do even better on range if that's important to you.

Just a thought...Mark
