From Fran Zygmont (with Dave Tripp):
12/30 - Barkhamsted, 26 Miner Lane, yard -- 1 HOARY REDPOLL, 150+
Common Redpolls.  The Hoary initially appeared at approximately 9:15
and was again seen from 9:30-9:40 alongside several Common Redpolls
(good comparison of fieldmarks).  Something spooked the redpolls and
only a few Commons remained until approximately 10:40 when a flock of
20-25, containing the Hoary, reappeared for 10 minutes.  This bird was
noticeably lighter and more pale white than the Commons, very fine
streaking on the flanks, white undertail coverts and vent, distinctive
'stubby' bill and pale white supercillium.
