A member is involved in an ongoing litigation arising out of conditions at the local jails. It appears that plaintiffs are often relying on similar experts for opinions regarding covid-19 safety measures, as well as regarding general physical and mental health impacts of covid-19 mitigation measures (notably maintenance of cohorts and the reliance on greater in-cell time to do so). The member has also noticed that the issue of staff attrition, and experts on staffing, have cropped up in a couple of cases. As all these issues are percolating in their litigation, we are reaching out to ask which experts, if any, other jurisdictions are using in defense of these types of claims and issues.
