Good morning,
The 1296 beacon is quite strong this morning. It is 40 dB over the ambient noise. I should note that the frequency has shifted up a couple of Khz. It is now around 1296.084. I haven’t turned on my sig gen to check more closely than that. I can do that if someone is interested.
Have fun at the picnic tomorrow. I am sorry I won’t be there. I just have too much to do here. Maybe next year.
73,
Dave

Hi Dave...
Tnx for the report. MIke will be interested in the frequency shift so I'll leave it to him to check out.
Sorry you can't make the picnic but I understand that tower seeds need a lot of nurturing.

What's the 6-character grid square of the beacon? I'd like to listen for it.
The now defunct K9MOT beacons in Schaumburg near Chicago drifted as
much as 5 kHz as the temperature changed.

This is not the correct answer but if you aim at EM79vp you will be close enough given your distance from here.

Thanks guys! I will listen for the beacon.
For anyone who is interested, next weekend in the 10 GHz contest I am
probably starting out in EN50rl in the morning on Saturday for a
while, then headed south. I may go to EM59ua for a while (there is a
hill with an abandoned AT&T station there). But my ultimate
destination is down near Murphysboro, IL. I hope to operate from Bald
Knob near Alto Pass on Sunday in the 10 GHz contest (EM57hn). And then
watch the eclipse down there on Monday.

What's the 6-character grid square of the beacon? I'd like to listen for it.
The now defunct K9MOT beacons in Schaumburg near Chicago drifted as
much as 5 kHz as the temperature changed.

Hi Dave...
Tnx for the report. MIke will be interested in the frequency shift so I'll leave it to him to check out.
Sorry you can't make the picnic but I understand that tower seeds need a lot of nurturing.

That grid north of St. Louis should've been EM49ua. Just northeast of Grafton.
