Good afternoon Members!
I had full intention of drafting a formal message of introduction and hello to you in my role as Interim Executive Director of the HBCU Library Alliance. I am privileged to provide support during this period of transition for the organization and membership. Please allow me to say more about this opportunity in my next communication.
With this message I want to share my surprise, along with yours I imagine, about the sudden termination of our Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, PhD. The entire profession is rocked by this, and more. Change is one of the most difficult aspects of our lives whether it is personal or professional. I encourage you to continue to care and protect your collections and services such that the stories they tell are preserved for all future generations.
In addition to the HBCULA, our professional associations are authoritative sources of information on this and other matters of importance to information professionals. I encourage you to visit some of those sites for more useful information. e.g. ALA.orghttp://www.ala.org, SAA.orghttps://www2.archivists.org/, CLIRhttps://www.clir.org/, BCALAhttps://www.bcala.org/
Have a peaceful weekend, and I'll be back to you, next week.
