NCL Board...

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th from 1-3:00
p.m. in advance of the full-day Member Meeting the following day (Thursday,
September 18th).

Thus, this has historically been one of our hybrid (virtual/in-person)
meetings held at ALA.

I'd like this upcoming board meeting to focus more on strategic planning.
We've gathered a lot of information over the past several months about how
NCL moves forward and I think this meeting is an opportunity to reflect on
this input and use it to map out a plan, including how to fund it.  I think
it's the board's role to make final decisions around priorities and develop
an action plan.

With this in mind, I'd like to suggest we make the meeting longer.  How
many of you are planning to be there in person?  I initially wanted to end
at 3 in case we wanted to do something on the Hill like last time,
especially since Congress will be back in session and we'll likely need to
press House members to fund adult education like the Senate did - plus,
this will be AEFL week.  But maybe we skip that and go longer til 5:00
p.m.? Or maybe we start earlier and go from 10:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m.?  What
are your thoughts?

I'm still figuring out the agenda for the Member Meeting.  The only two
things I have scheduled so far are a presentation from OCTAE (Nick Moore
and Grace Air) - they will discuss how things will be administered for
AEFLA through DOL, provided their actions aren't halted by Congress... and
a presentation by CEF (Sarah Abernathy) - I'm also trying to get someone
from NAWB to come talk to us about how we can better partner.  Any other
ideas for this meeting, please send my way.

But I really want to hear your thoughts on our board meeting and your
feasibility of having a longer meeting.  Please let me know asap on that.
