Hey Puget Sound!

My name is Collin and I help promote Puget Creek Restoration Society in
Tacoma, WA.  Here's some highlights about all the great opportunities PCRS
is providing in 2013 (more information and 2013 calendar link below)!

Firstly,

Invasive European Green Crab and Stream Habitat Monitoring

*On April 6**th from 12-2:00 we will have a seminar on the Invasive
European Green Crab and Stream Habitat Monitoring. If you would like to
attend please RSVP so we can get an idea of how many are attending. It is
at our office and light refreshments will be served.

We have our quarterly Newsletter once again thanks to our intern Zoe and
there is a link below to it.*
**
Next,

WATERSHED ADVENTURES PROGRAM/ DOCENT TRAINING opportunity:
**
*How would you like to get trained in order to provide a teaching
experience to 4th and 5th graders? Well, we have a Watershed Adventures
Program here at PCRS that provides an outdoor education experience for
fourth and fifth graders. We will get them to Puget Creek for a five hour
adventure (includes travel time from and back to school). The idea is to
train our docents in four watershed themes and then these docents will work
with the students. We have four stations: Trees and their importance and
aspects; Water Quality; Stream Habitat characteristics and finally; Native
vs. non-native invasive plants and the similarities and identifying
characteristics. We will train you in presenting and instructing in all
these areas and when a class is scheduled (starting this spring) we will
get the docents to take a group of seven to eight students and instruct
for forty-five minutes in each area.  This will be about a three hour
process. *
**
So, if you like learning about our local environment, working with youth
and enjoy the outdoors please let us know. THE first training day is in the
office, which will orientate you about the manual (you will need to
schedule to come in to do this). Then training opportunities (many are
needed so you can get fully trained) is April) from 2:00 to 5:00pm on
Saturday and Sunday (Tuesday and Thursday is 2:30-5:00) where we will go to
Puget Creek and go over the field aspects.
