Hi Jason,
It is wonderful that you are starting a bird watching club at the assisted
living facility.
I am including Chuck on this reply to let him know that I am supportive of
you requesting binocular donations through our CTBirds listserv email
ctbirds@lists.ctbirding.org. Feel free to ask there.
Regarding the mini-grants, the committee made a policy decision a few years
ago not to fund optics, so unfortunately that is not an option. I have also
seen some groups get loaner binos from the local library.
I hope this helps your efforts!

Hello Cynthia and Chris!
Hope all is well and the birding even better!
I’m reaching out because I have started a bird watching club at the
assisted living I work at and it is really catching on! Unfortunately, many
residents do not have binoculars so I am trying to procure some any way I
can.
As a former COA board member, I realize it’s not mini-grant season, but I
wondered if any local bird clubs or the membership at large could be asked
for considering to donate any used binoculars?
You probably get inundated with similar requests so I understand if it’s
not possible.
Thanks for your consideration and hope to see you in the field one of
these days.

Very nice idea Jason. Can’t help you with COA anymore, but good idea to
reach out to the community. I will look around for extra bins. Hope to
