Colleagues,

Please see the links below for this morning's release from the Senate Appropriations Committee.

In the explanatory document for Labor-HHS_Ed, see page 9 for the allocations for CTE (+$75 million), Pell (+ $150 per award), and a new rural postsecondary program ($10 million).

The language around WIOA funding focuses on Title I. I haven't yet found an explicit reference to Title II.

Hi Deborah,
Here's what our public policy firm is noting:

The proposed numbers for the Senate FY 21 appropriations bill were just released. They proposed to level fund Adult Education State Grants at $656,955,000. Considering the tight budget caps for this year, it is great to see adult ed was not cut.

In terms of process – the Senate and the House will need to work together to come up with final numbers for FY21. If you’ll recall, the House proposed $664 million (an increase of $7 million over FY2020) for Adult Education State Grants. After the negotiations, we’d expect the adult ed number to be somewhere in between the House and Senate proposed numbers. We will include an action alert for members to advocate for increased funding in this week’s update.

If you’ll recall, the House proposed $664
million (an increase of $7 million over FY2020) for Adult Education State Grants. After the negotiations, we’d expect the adult ed number to be somewhere in between the House and Senate proposed numbers. We will include an action alert
for members to advocate for increased funding in this week’s update.
