Oil changes at sea

Arild,

I do, but I probably won't use it.

That said, I don't know why all the nervousness about shutting down the ME at
sea. What could happen (that couldn't be quickly repaired) that would cause
it not to start? In twenty-odd years I worked in engine rooms, I never once had
an engine fail to start. One exception was when a new skipper ran me out of
starting air by giving me too many bells in a short time and we floated around
for a half-hour. Good thing we weren't transiting Hell Gate!

Regards,

John

Arild asked:

How many blue water boats have filter systems and oil changers that
allow changes on the fly without shutting down the engine?
