Good morning all,

My name is Rebecca Leloudis and I am a graduate student at the University of Connecticut, where I am researching Connecticut's fisher (also known as fisher cat) population. For unknown reasons, fisher appear to be in decline across the state, and my research aims to understand what could be causing this. To get a better understanding of fisher distribution in Connecticut and to improve future field work, I'm asking the public to submit any sightings of fisher in Connecticut within the last year through the following survey:

https://forms.office.com/r/DyLxitGst0

Additionally, any sightings with photos or video associated with them can be sent to my project email address, FisherSightings@uconn.edumailto:FisherSightings@uconn.edu, preferably with date and location information included in the body of the email.

Sightings reports from the public--especially from outdoors organizations like the COA--are critical for my research, and I'm hoping members of the state's birding community can assist with this. I have also created a flyer with both my project email address and a scannable QR code that links to the survey above, so if anyone would like copies to distribute virtually or in communal spaces, please let me know. I'm also happy to mail out hard copies of the flyer if needed.

I really appreciate any contributions that COA members can make. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about my research, this survey, or anything related to the UConn fisher project. Thanks so much for your time and assistance!

Sincerely,

Rebecca
