We appreciate your continued support! Weather: The weather today was warm and calm with southerly winds all day. The morning was very foggy and persisted will into the afternoon as a haze. Raptor Observations: There were less raptors seen today than the rest of this week, with many travelling to the north. The majority were red-tailed hawks, with a few red shoulders that came close to the tower. Turkey vultures were greatly decreased today, and all other species were almost completely absent. The highlight of the day was another juvenile bald eagle! Non-raptor Observations: There were a few species to note today including two first of the year brown creepers (finally), a group of 5 sandhill cranes, two of which landed in the marsh, the Virginia rail, and redheads which flew over close to the tower. There were large murmurations of starlings again this morning, along with large mixed flocks of rusty blackbirds, grackles and red-winged blackbirds. https://ebird.org/checklist/S121801703 Predictions: Tomorrow again looks similar to today, with temperatures warming in the afternoon. Winds are still southerly tomorrow, bit much stronger than the rest of the week. Hopefully we see some of the raptors which were absent today including accipiters and falcons.
